COVID-19/ Coronavirus Worksite Plan

Enhanced Cleaning Requirements and Procedures

Storybook Villa (owners, cleaners, and all who enter) has established a worksite-specific COVID-19/ Coronavirus prevention plan. We have used information provided from the CDC, state’s CDPH, and Orange County’s Health Care Agency to inform our guidelines. For more details, see our COVID-19 Binder or website.

We post this to increase your peace-of-mind. Summary of items addressed (but not limited to) include:

  • Professional cleaning company and its staff has acknowledged and agreed not to work if symptomatic.
  • Before arriving, guests have acknowledged and submitted Wellness Survey regarding symptoms.
  • Frequent handwashing
  • Practice social distancing (cleaners not to clean when guests present. Guests have been advised).
  • Cleaning staff to wear mask and gloves.
  • Items removed (books, magazines, toys, etc, and anything left by previous guests)
  • Common areas: guests acknowledge an inherent risk of exposure to Covid-19 exists in any public place
  • Signs posted as safety reminders: wash hands, social distance, use mask, cover sneeze, clean& disinfect
  • High-touch surfaces: Cleaning staff has been provided with thorough checklist to clean & disinfect items such as bed rails & headboards, tables & countertops, TV remotes, appliances, knobs, handles, switches, toilets, sinks & faucets, mirrors.
  • Multi-surface cleaners & soaps approved for use against COVID-19 by the EPA.
  • Garbage & left-overs: Cleaning staff & guests to remove all trash and line all garbage cans.
  • Removal of any food items the previous guest left in the refrigerator, freezer, pantry, etc.
  • New sponges, paper towel rolls, and toilet paper rolls re-stocked each cleaning for each guest.
  • Linens & laundry: bedding and towels removed and laundered for each stay.
  • Kitchen items & dishes: cleaned between each guest stay. Adequate dish soap provided.
  • Bathrooms: toilets, showers, tub, sinks, cabinets, faucets, shelving and floors.
  • Air Conditioning (HVAC): filters changed regularly. Home has its own AC unit (ie  air not shared).
  • Remote check-in & keyless entry provided (aligns with social distancing practices).
  • Standard check-in 4pm and check-out 11am: times set to minimize guest/cleaner interactions.
  • Rental unit and cleaning standards regularly evaluated and updated as needed.
  • Increased communication & disclosure with guests on the cleaning & safety measures implemented, both pre-stay and during stay, via the listing content and property information provided.
  • We encourage guests to self-monitor for symptoms, follow advice from local authorities, and to seek medical assistance where possible/available.
  • We encourage application of these guidelines to shared/public places.

Guidelines for Cleaning Storybook Villa


The following guidelines are part of our updated COVID-19 cleaning procedures:

CDPH (CA Dept of Public Health) + OSHA (Dept of Industrial Regulations) + CDC (Disease Control)

For details,


+ Stay home (do not work) if you are not feeling well (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, aches)

+ Guests must not be present

+ Masks and Gloves must be worn at all times

+ Remove your shoes (or cover them) upon entering the house

+ Open all windows and patio doors to ventilate (air-out)

+ Remove all personal items left behind by previous guests (place in bin labeled “Previous Guests”)

+ All trash cans must be emptied and always use a trash bag (liner) inside


Disinfect / Sanitize the following (not a complete list):

  • Door handles
  • All cabinet handles and knobs (kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms)
  • All appliances, handles, knobs, buttons (Frig, dishwasher, washer/dryer, toaster, coffee maker…)
  • Water faucets
  • Toilet handles
  • Light switches
  • All TV remotes (gently, do not press buttons down)
  • Tables, countertops, high-touch surfaces
  • Bed rails, headboards of beds
  • Clean vacuums before and after cleanings


Our Storybook Villa rental home(s) have their own individual Air Conditioning units. (ie The air is not shared with other units).
